01. Bio

bio

I studied computer science, started out building frontends, and ended up spending most of my time in the space between a design decision and the code that implements it. Having an engineering background means I can judge whether an idea is actually feasible — and then go and build it, rather than handing it over.

Most of my work has been with the Jordan Open Source Association and with Marje3, a student-led initiative I started for open educational resources. That has meant designing for communities rather than for a single user: balancing shared needs against very different use patterns, and designing the system that encourages people to contribute back so the thing survives without me.

Outside of project work I spend time in digital rights communities — I gave a talk at Bread&Net on building a user-respecting software ecosystem, and I was selected for the 2026 Digital Rights Community Global Gathering. That side of things is where I picked up the conviction that accessibility is not a feature you add once the real interface is finished. It is a baseline, and a badly designed system excludes people rather than merely annoying them.
